Who we are
"Castello di Mandela e giardini di Orazio A.P.S." Association
An organization established pursuant to Legislative Decree 117 of 2017 (Third Sector Code) and the provisions of the Civil Code. Our headquarters are located in the Municipality of Mandela, and we operate both nationally and internationally.
Our Main Goals
The Association pursues several key objectives:
1. Enhancement of the Castello del Gallo architectural complex and the surrounding area. This will be achieved through:
- The restoration and maintenance of the castle and gardens.
- The promotion of the rediscovery of the beauty of the ideal or picturesque landscape, as an aesthetic of Vedutismo.
- The rediscovery of beauty in art and environmental management, with the aim of achieving balance in land governance.
- Promoting the values of Castello del Gallo, particularly intellectual freedom and avant-garde thinking.
- Promoting the development of the Aniene Valley while respecting its ancient heritage.
- The promotion of interreligious dialogue between Christians, Muslims, and Jews, recognizing the Castle as a historic meeting place for different cultures.
- The adoption of any initiative deemed useful and appropriate for the pursuit of the association's goals.
2. Promotion of the Castle's Values through Stays: We promote the Castle's values through on-site stays, especially aimed at those who will spread the association's values and goals around the world.
3. Support for Young Scientists: We help young scientists create supply chains or re-enter ecosystems.
4. Scientific Research and Awareness on Rare Diseases and Disorders: We conduct scientific research and awareness-raising activities on rare diseases and disorders such as autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson's disease, oncology, and cancer. This includes:
- Improving the living conditions of people with Parkinson's disease.
- Implement actions for the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of people with Parkinson's.
- Defending the rights and equal opportunities of autistic people, combating social exclusion and discrimination.
- Promote the personal and professional independence of people with autism to ensure they live a full and dignified life.
5. Reintegration and Reintegration into the World of Work: We deal with the reintegration and reintegration into the world of work of prisoners and disadvantaged categories through:
- Structure individual educational/training paths to overcome the conditions that generate social exclusion.
- Activating and promoting basic and vocational training initiatives aimed at developing skills that facilitate access to the labor market.
- Strengthen and raise awareness of the formal and informal network in the area to offer more training and employment opportunities that allow for effective social and occupational reintegration.
Our Activities
To achieve the aforementioned goals, the Association can carry out various activities, including:
- Restoration and maintenance.
- Communication actions.
- Daily visits to the gardens and hospitality for groups.
- Promotion of the Castle, its gardens, and its values in Italy and abroad, particularly those related to the rediscovery of the ideal landscape of Vedutismo, including through events and the establishment of specific non-profit organizations abroad.
- Recreational and therapeutic activities (games, reading, dancing, hand painting, nature walks, gardening).
- Education and specialized training courses also aimed at reintegrating into the world of work (gardening, cooking, catering).
- Theater courses, theatrical and musical performances, historical reenactments, production of theatrical, cinematic, and television shows, and management of theaters and cinemas, including open-air ones.
- Management of bookstores and art galleries, including the exhibition, production, and publication of works created by disadvantaged people.
- Organization and implementation of recreational and cultural activities related to free time and agritourism.
- Establish historical, scientific, and cultural research centers.
- To act as a meeting place and a place of aggregation in the name of cultural interests, fulfilling the social function of human and civil maturation and growth.
- Pet therapy and promotion and search for foster/adoptive families for abandoned animals.
- Promotion and awareness events for oncology and rare diseases.
- Visits to private and public gardens of particular historical and landscape importance.
- Creation of a route designed for the blind and visually impaired and an accessible play area.
- We are a meeting and aggregation place that aims at human and civil maturation and growth, committed to building a supportive community and actively contributing to social well-being.
